4IRC Connect Shapers with Professor Andy Hopper and Steve Orr, Director of Connect

Connect at Catalyst Inc hosted a group of ‘Shapers’ on Thursday 26thApril who have been setting their sights on the 4th Industrial Revolution, right here in Northern Ireland. For the past year they have donated their time to help make the 4th Industrial Revolution Challenge (4IRC) a reality. The Shapers were chosen because of the excellence they have displayed in their careers at innovative companies, startups and research institutions across NI.

Their achievements were celebrated at the lunch at Belfast’s Bullitt Hotel where they were joined by Professor Andy Hopper from Cambridge University who held an informal discussion on how technology will shape our lives.

The group of innovators have worked with Connect at Catalyst Inc over the past year to organise the 4IRC series of debates, held at locations across Northern Ireland. Topics are focused on the 4th Industrial Revolution and have included everything from Robotics and transport through to education and health.

It has been an honour to work with this amazing group of innovators over the past year. Each of our Shapers have demonstrated brilliance in their field and a restless curiosity for the biggest questions facing society. Together they have defined the key questions arising from the 4thIndustrial Revolution

During the lunch, Shaper Brian Shevlin (Arity) commented:

“It is fantastic that 4IRC is celebrating it’s 1st Anniversary. Being a Connect Shaper is extremely rewarding. Working with like-minded folks who have an interest in disruptive technology has made this a truly inspirational year”
